A Guest for the Weekend

So my parents agreed to watch their friend’s cat for the weekend. I am not overjoyed by it. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against cats, but if you think ferret poop stinks – it smells like roses compared to the feline variety. Remember my friend Tom and how I mentioned GoodBye Odor for cats along time ago? Well, the ‘rents definitely need to get some more GBO so we can breathe easy.

How many ferrets out there have to share their parents with cats? Just wondering.

So, it’s my cousin Leo’s birthday tomorrow and I’ve been doing some shopping. Of course I had to get him a nice supply of Bandits Treats in every flavor and some Furo Vite for fun. Then I strolled through the toy and accessory aisle and that made me salivate – so many fun things to choose from, but I stayed in control because I know that the new items coming in March are so cool! I can’t wait to get one of everything. Don’t worry I will post pics when I get them.

Cold Air, Warm Fuzzy

Ooh it’s cold outside, but hey I’m a fuzzy so I’m OK with the weather as long as I have somewhere to get cozy. Right now I’m lovin’ my Alligator. Last week I made the mistake of burrowing in some dirty laundry …not a good idea. I think my parents may benefit from some GoodBye Odor of their own!

Before I forget, I heard a rumor from a reliable source that some of my cousins are starring in a new movie with Brendan somebody. I forgot his last name, but if you click around on You Tube you may find a clip. That’s all I can say for now. Stay warm.

Feeling The Love

This time of year always makes me feel warm and fuzzy…. oh, that’s right, that’s because I am! Anyway, I like to reflect on those ferrets that are less fortunate than I am. I always try to send some cheer their way. This year I am going to send an abundance of Bandits in every tasty flavor, along with some fun toys like the Octoplay and the Ferret Ark.

Oh, by the way, in my sneaky adventures I was able to catch a glimpse of the new website and it is very cool, of course it features some great photos of me, and my friends! I can’t wait for you to see it…. ooh I’d better sign off. I hear footsteps and I’m supposed to be snuggled into my sleep sack.

In With the New…

I hear that change is a good thing, well there are many changes happening all around me and I am pretty excited about it. First of all, my parents have decided to move my fabulous Estate to another room while they are remodeling. There are so many new things to explore that I can hardly contain myself. To top it off they bought me a brand new Octoplay and some treats to make the change easier on me! Aside from that, I heard a secret that is just too good to keep! A new member has joined the Marshall team and she is going to change the website to include more pictures of me!!! Isn’t that great? I think she is going to make things easier for you too, soon you will be able to do things on the site that you couldn’t do before! Write to me and let me know what you would like to see – I’m sure I have some influence around here. In the meantime, I’m going to make out my Christmas wish list…

Keeping My Nose Clean

Of course you can take the title of this blog a few different ways, but I am really talking about staying away from humans and other ferrets that are sick. I've heard a lot of talk swirling about on flu viruses and H1N1 and let me tell you if humans think it's bad, it's even worse for ferrets. I try not to breathe when Carrie, my owner's niece comes to visit. She is always coughing and trying to hold me - luckily for me, I have one smart human and I am kept away from the germs! If I do feel a bit under the weather I usually feel better after I have some Duk Soup and some Furo-Vite!

Remember in my last note I mentioned some exciting things happening? Well they are still happening and I can't stand the secrecy of it all! I just may go insane, because I really want to tell you about all of the new products coming out. I've even had a chance to try some of them out with a few of my friends! Oops, I've probably said too much already. You'll just have to stay tuned...

Oh, and I want to thank everyone who wrote in and submitted more movies that have our extended ferret families in them! We are pretty wonderful creatures, aren't we?

GoodBye Summer, Hello Hollywood!

It’s been quite a while since I last wrote. I really enjoyed my summer, but truthfully I’m looking forward to the cooler temps. I was loading up on Ferret Aide so I wouldn’t get dehydrated.

I’ve been faithfully spying on the wizards here that make my toys and accessories and I can tell that they have some cool things in the works! I can’t wait to get my paws on them, but for now I’ll have to settle in my snuggly Sleep Sack and wait for the opportune moment.

When I’m off spy duty I’m watching movies and let me tell you, ferrets are famous! I never realized how many ferrets in there are in Hollywood! Check out my list of ferret appearances and please let me know if I missed any!

A Day At The Beach!

So my parents decided they've had enough of this weather and are heading to the Bahamas this month. Unfortunately they decided not bring me – you know how ferrets don’t do so well in hot weather. Maybe some of you don’t know about the hot weather thing, it’s not good. We need to be kept cool! My folks usually freeze water in a plastic bottle for me - it’s like low-budget air conditioning, but it works!

While the ‘rents are sunning themselves, I’ll be visiting my Aunt Betsy in Michigan. Michigan aint the Bahamas! At least I have my own Traveling Condo to make the trip a little easier. Of course I’ll bring a lot of my toys to ward off boredom. And I hope Aunt Betsy remembers how much I love Bandits – I’m down to my last bag!

I’ve been shedding a lot lately too and it’s making the hairballs a bit of an issue for me, lickily, I mean luckily, I have my Ferret Lax to keep everything running smoothly…if you know what I mean.

Oh, my friend Thomas, the cat, wanted me to tell you that he loves the new GoodBye Odor for cats. He says his parents have fallen in love with him just like when he was a kitten and he owes it all to GoodBye Odor! Who knew?

Orlando, Here I Come!

I’m so excited I can hardly stand it! I’m going to the Global Pet Expo in Orlando in a couple of weeks! If you make it down there, please stop by and say “hello”. I’ll be in booth 2525, probably chillin’ out in my comfy hammock. There are so many things I can’t wait to show you. The best part is that I am meeting up with my cousins, whom I haven’t seen since last year! I’m bringing them an alligator, one that can’t hurt them of course. I think I’ll bring some Bandits too – we always eat like crazy when we’re together and I’m not so great at sharing. Oh, I almost forgot, I’d better pack some extra Bi-Odor – my cousins are known for bringing the ladies. Speaking of Bi-Odor, I had to discreetly let my buddy Thomas in on my secret. He’s a vain cat who’s very worried about odors, if you know what I mean. Well now he can relax, because there’s a brand new GoodByeOdor just for cats! Can you believe it? I hope Thomas shares it with his other friends – they could use it. Well, I’ve gotta go! I’m enjoying some Duk Soup, it’s good for the ferret soul and I want to be in top form for the show! See you in Florida!

It's me, Marshall! I'm back from hibernation!

Actually, ferrets don't hibernate, but I went on a long vacation. When I came back I realized that I haven't written to my ferret friends in a quite a while.

Life is great and I'm loving my new estate. I have some new snacks that you'll want to sink your teeth into - they're called Bandit Stix and they taste so meaty, I can hardly stop at one. If you get your claws on some, let me know what you think of them. I can't decide if I like the beef better than the chicken...

Baby it's cold outside!

Thank goodness I have my little fleece blanket to keep me warm because I'm not fond of the low temperatures! My parents filled my home with toys to keep me busy when they are at work. If I could just figure out how this cage door works I could have some real fun! In the meantime I just play hide and seek in my Elefun! It's probably better that I'm in here when mommy and daddy are gone, because the last time they left me unattended I accidentally choked on a bottle cap! And they say "curiosity killed the cat." Seriously friends, don't think it's a free vacation when the folks let you play around the house - better be careful or you'll end up like my pal Ozzie, but that's a story for a different day!

Warmer weather is coming

I know its only April but there have been some pretty warm days already! Summer seems to be just around the corner, so one thing that I wanted to tell you was how to keep your ferret safe from heat especially during the summer months.

Ferrets tend to be susceptible to heat stroke. When the temperatures get over 80 degress it can actually be fatal! Some of the warning signs of heat stroke that you can look for are heaving panting, runny nose and mouth, lethargy, shaking or even unconciousness. Never leave your ferret locked in a vehicle or house when the temperature is over 80 degrees!!

One of the products that I have used that is wonderful for preventing and helping with heatstroke is Marshall Ferret-Aide. It is an electrolyte replacement that you can put right in the water. It helps to maintain hydration during warm weather.

If you see your ferret starting to get heatstroke, remove him or her from the sun/heat immediately. Make sure they have plenty of water to drink, with Ferret-Aide if possible. Place your ferret in a dry bathtub which tends to stay cool or on a cool towel. Placing cool water on the ferrets stomach or feet can also help to lower body temp - but don't use cold water! Another good idea is to freeze a 2 liter soda bottle filled with water and wrap it in a towel. This can be placed in the ferrets cage to help him or her cool off.

Hopefully keeping your ferret hydrated and using an electrolye replacement such as Ferret-Aide will help to avoid this. I just wanted to give you some extra tips on helping prevent heat stroke in your ferrets. Enjoy the nice weather!

I was recently looking for a new cage when I stumbled upon the Marshall Chalet. What a great find! This cage is a great size and measures 39.4”L x 22.4”W x 27.6”D. With all that room it has 2 adjustable platforms and 2 ramps and can easily fit 2 ferrets or most small pets like chinchillas, bunnies, ferrets, etc.

When I got the Marshall Chalet home I found that it’s easy to put together and has a deep base. The deep base is great for keeping my mess in and easy to clean. The Chalet also has 2 access doors. 1 flip top and 1 drop down style which also doubles as a drop down ramp.

Just when I was thinking that I couldn’t possibly ask for more. I found that Marshall’s included $25 in rebates! The rebates are for food, litter, bi-oder, treats, and accessories.

New Toy!

As I was looking through my blog entries I realized that I have never told you about any Marshall toys that i enjoy.

One of the new toys out from Marshall Pet Products that i really like is the Marshall Sport Balls. The sports balls are a great size and are made of a soft fleece material. They also have a bell inside that will keep your ferrets entertained for hours.

I really like how you can choose your favorite sport and have fun with basketball, football, tennis, and soccer. These would make a great addition to any ferrets toy collection.

Are you a smelly ferret? You might be, and I know that I used to be! That was, of course, until my owner brought home some Marshall Ferret Bi-Odor.

Let me tell you, this stuff really works! It goes into your water everyday, doesn't taste like anything and it works internally to stop the odor! The product is 100% natural and it really only takes a few pumps a day to work wonders!

Trust me that you should try this product! You will no longer be a smelly ferret and your owner will certainly stop complaining about you. Make sure to go out and tell all of your friends too - you won't regret it!!

It's that time of year....

As you might be noticing its getting a little colder out and that cold and flu season is coming! How do you keep your ferrets protected during that time of year?

Ferrets are prone to upper respiratory infections and influenze and can even catch these diseases through human contact! If you notice your ferret sneezing, pay close attention to the color of the mucus and check to see if its eyes are clear. Sometimes it might be caused by the type of litter that is being used. Make sure to use a pellet litter - I like to recommend the Marshall Premium Ferret Litter.

If the discharge you're seeing is yellow or green you should treat with an antibiotic. I like to tell everyone to use Marshall Ferret Rx for congestion along with the antibiotic for a very effective treatment.

In order to build up your ferret's health, try Marshall Furo-Vite which is a high calorie vitamin sup plement and make sure to keep your ferret hydrated. Adding Marshall Ferret Aide to water helps keep ferrrets even more hydrated. Using these items regularly will help keep your ferret healthy, especially going into the cold and flu season.

Do you ever feel like you are always having to run out to the pet store to get more litter for your ferret? I always felt that a lot of the litter bags out in the stores weren't big enough and you had to go out all of the time to get more. If you're the kind of person that only goes to the pet store when you need more food or litter, having a product that will cut down on the number of times you have to go to the store would probably be a good thing!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I'm very excited about some new products that have been coming out from Marshall Pet Products. Over the next few weeks I will be discussing some features of some of the new items that I've seen out in stores.

The first product I came across that I really liked was the new Marshall Fashion Flower Collar. It's colorful and comfortable for ferrets to wear! Any ferret would be a hit wearing this new collar. Its also great for those of you who are ferret owners because its hand washable and easy to put on your ferrets!

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! My name is Marshall the Ferret and you may have seen me on MySpace - www.myspace.com/marshallferrets. I decided to create a blog because of all of the awesome feedback I've received on products on MySpace. I've also received several questions on caring for ferrets so I figured this would be the best way I could communicate some of that information!

I'd love to hear from everyone on some of the new product ideas I've been coming up with. You can ask me any questions that you might have on products and ferrets in general. I've been working to compile a list of questions I've received on MySpace, so feel free to add to the list :)
